Spiritual Direction

I am a member of the SpiDir Network in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxford, an independent ecumenical network of people offering the ministry of spiritual accompaniment. In the Christian tradition this is called spiritual direction.

My understanding of spirituality reflects the definition used by the SpiDir network, that sees spirituality as the universal search for meaning. This understanding underlies all religions but is not exclusive to any, and is individual to each of us.

From the earliest of times people have found it helpful to talk about spirituality to someone that they trust. I aim to provide a sacred space that is comfortable and confidential for anyone feeling this need. This can be at times of change, when there are difficult issues to deal with or a sense of inner emptiness. You are encouraged to bring anything that you would like to discuss and explore, to help you to make sense of it in a spiritual context.

I aim to enable a focus on your concerns. My approach is to listen reflectively without judgement or prior expectation. This may be about finding ways to pray or meditate, or ways to respond to a sense of being invited into something deeper. My role is to support your discernment of the action of the spirit in your life with the aim to enable a fuller encounter with the sacred and the holy.

I typically meet with clients every 6-8 weeks for an hour. This can vary depending on the needs at the time. I do charge for this work, to enable professional supervision of the work. Fees for this are negotiable.
